Phosphatidylcholine is one of four phospholipids. They're essential components of cell membranes, and at least two of them have been found to have neurotransmitter-like properties.
The easiest way to get three of the four is to get some soya lecithin granules (any health food store would have them). They're cheap, and quite acceptable to eat straight up (mild nutty flavour).
The fourth, phosphatidylserine, is not found in soya lecithin except in tiny trace amounts. So, for that one (and it may be more important than the others), you have to use a specific PS supplement. It may be of animal origin (extract), or synthesized from soya lecithin. It's somewhat more expensive than the others, as a result.
I find phospholipids to be calming, and maybe enhancing of cognitive function.
