Hi babs!
The GAD appears to involve an overactive serotonin 1-A receptor. This causes an imbalance with the OCD, which likely involves low serotonin. This high/low imbalance is likely causing you problems. SSRI medications (like Celexa) all increase all the serotonins, stimulating the already overactive 1-A receptor and worsening the anxiety. Xanax and Klonopin, like all Valium like benzodiazepines, reduce anxiety. Buspar also works very good at blocking the 5HT1-A receptor (some say the best of all), which should then allow you to take the ssri without getting the worsened anxiety. Buspar makes some people feel sick. IF that happened you could take Remeron to counter that effect. OR, you could try the Klonopin. That sounds like a very good idea. Many ocd'ers (including my Aunt) did VERY well using Klonopin w/ Luvox. Try the increased Celexa WITH the Klonopin Babs...I think it should work very well for you! Take care and try to keep your mind and body relaxed. Do as many things as possible to help your mind/body relax.
