Nicotinamide blocks neuron injury, as well as treating existing damage. It protects the genetic information, helps cell membranes resist oxidative damage and immune system reactivity, and protects the blood vessels from clotting. It blocks damaging processes before they begin, by preventing the release of signalling compounds, yet is resistant to influences that would shut it down.
