I was really able to sleep well on Zyprexa -- maybe too well at times, although I didn't feel at all drugged. I always had a calm disposition and it's possible Zyprexa blunted my emotions a little bit at a 20 mg/day dose, but didn't turn me into a zombie in the process. Zyprexa became a good friend to me, but had one bothersome problem. It adversely affected my cholesteral and that was the factor that has caused me to change to Abilify which doesn't have that particular side effect. I do believe there is a withdrawal problem when weaning off Zyprexa. A couple years ago I stopped Zyprexa abruptly to try Geodon. It was a bad experience in that I had miserable insomnia for the two weeks I was taking Geodon. This time around, I am slowly coming off Zyprexa while titrating up on the Abilify and so far... so good! The change is imperceptible -- I feel like I am still just taking Zyprexa.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
