I have fibromyalgia which causes pain and fatigue. The primary neurological issue is decreased serotonin and norepinephrine. I take 100mg of Seroquel at night to help me get the deep sleep that I can't get without meds. That and regular exercise help me manage the pain and fatigue quite well. However, I'm still tired all the time. It's not so bad that I can't work 4 days a week and have a fairly normal social life, but I'm just tired of being tired all the time. My doctor's been trying different stimulants (Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall) and what's helping is 10 mg of Dexedrine in the morning. Theoretically, I'm supposed to take another 10 mg of Dexedrine around 1:00, but then I can't get to sleep. My doctor suggested I try Effexor XR to help increase my norepinephrine in hopes that it would help to decrease my fatigue, but after reading a lot of the postings, I'm scared to even try the samples he gave me. I'd really appreciate feedback from you veterans out there. Weighing the pros and cons, do you think it would be worthwile for me to try Effexor to decrease my fatigue, or do you think the potential side effects are not worth dealing with, considering that my fatigue does not significantly interfere with my life?
