Hello my name is joe,
this is my experience with prozac. btw i don’t write using capitol letters online. i started taking prozac 4 years ago when i was 16 for depression and anxiety. I started on 20mgs and it worked like a charm. At one point i stopped taking it and i felt depressed again and so i took it everyday until december 2002. i was at school away from home in boston and ran out of my prescription and figured i’d just wait till the winter break started. Well, do to a lot of really annoying issues i didn’t get to see my doctor about a refill till the end of the winter break and then didn’t get it till sometime in january.
After not having prozac for about 3 weeks i felt very nervous. i couldn’t stop feeling like i had to move around and i couldn’t concentrate. i can’t remember if it was this point where my emotions kinda became dull or when i started to take the medicine again, but it happened. At the time i was going to berklee college of music and was playing my damn guitar all the time. Well after my emotions dulled i couldn’t practice very long cuz it felt pointless. also i was nervous a lot which didn’t help.
What also didn’t help was getting back on my meds. it didn’t do anything, but of course i wasn’t very patient either. i developed a twitch in my eyelid and took vitamin b to get rid of it, but i might have taken to much cause i got a really bad headache. (don’t ever take Solaray vitamin b each capsule contains 100mgs of B6 the recommended dosage is 10mgs. oh yeah and they say to take 3 a day) I started to take saint johns wort and 5-htp with prozac hoping it would make me feel better. It didn’t really do anything. After i stopped taking them and talked to my doctor at home i started to take 30mgs of prozac i noticed a little improvement at the 3 week mark, but i rashly went up to 40. that made things really bad. i could feel my heart pounding and i was really nervous especially in the morning, but i also felt sedated and didn’t feel better. so i went down to 30 this time for about 5 weeks and what is weird is about 2 weeks after going down and 3 weeks after going down i had little boosts of energy. A this point i had came home for the summer and got a job working with a painter for a few weeks. well 30 didn’t help so i went down to 20 and i noticed the same energy bursts at 2 and 3 weeks after decreasing the dosage. well after about 5 weeks on 20 i still felt shitty but not as sedated as on 30 or 40. so my doctor recommended i stopped taking the medicine. i stopped taking it cold turkey, cuz i just wanted to hurry up so i could go back to school in the fall.
After about a week of not taking anything i started to get withdrawal side effects. I have a headachey, kinda dizzy feeling. i get dizzy when i stand up or turn my head and the headache feeling gets worse after engaging in physical activity. the sedated feeling has stopped and i can now stay up all day without a nap. I am still have dulled emotions and don’t play the guitar much anymore but i still want to play music for a living. The strange thing is i don’t feel really depressed like when i started the meds. i just feel out of it, but im usually in a good mood. but yesterday and the day before i had massive headaches.
That leaves me here today hoping i’ll feel better soon. Well thank you if you’ve read this far maybe this will be helpful to someone with the same problem. If anyone has any advice or a response i’d love to here it. I was also wondering if anyone had used Immunocal to help with withdrawal side effects. This is recommended at www.prozactruth.com. Well best wishs to allJoe W.
