It does work for obstructive apnea - or does for my friend. I think it simply deepens sleep, so that his slightly obstructed breathing doesn't waken him.

I would think they are talking about Central Sleep Apnea, which is caused by a brain problem--brain doesn't signal breathing as it should--rather than Obstructive Sleep Apnea, which is more common and accounts for most cases of apnea. If it is for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, I am extremely curious what the mechanism of the Remeron would be.
