The IR (immediate-release) formations of the Adderall and Dexedrine are no more difficult to get prescribed or filled than the extended-release versions.
Either way, you'll surely want to get a prescription for *something* before you leave for college. See if your doctor will give you a two-month supply in one prescription (since they can't allow refills on Schedule II Controlled Substances). That would give you time to find a doctor in your new area who would be willing to continue with the stimulant, and also address the issue of whether or not the Effexor is necessary. Perhaps something else would work better for the depression.
