>Gabitril is an anticonvulsant but some pdocs are starting to use it for anxiety/panic disorder. It is a GABA enhancer...so should theoretically help with anxiety. I've been on it for about 3 weeks. I take 2mg at night and 2mg of xanax xr in the morning. My pdoc said to increase the gabitril to 4mg p.m. after a week, but I found that that made me really dopey the next day (and really hard to get out of bed in the morning). So I'm trying 3mg at night for awhile and will try the 4mg this weekend when I don't have to work. At this point I can't really say whether or not it's really helping. The primary side effects are dizziness,lightheadedness and sleepiness. According to my pdoc these side effects occurr primarily when you try to increase the dose too much too fast. I'm going to stick with it until at least the end of August when I have my next appt. Hope that helps some...it's not very commonly prescribed right now. Worrier.
