I haven't heard anything positive about Keppra (levetiracetam) with respect to depressive symptomology. One anticonvulsant that I have heard referred to as being possibly effective for depression is Zonegran (zonisamide). I don't know if it is specific for bipolar disorder. You can e-mail Ivan Goldberg, MD and ask about Keppra. He has some experience with it. Let us know what he has to say.
