My son who is 10 has been on Straterra now for 4 months. I just did a web search for "Stratera and side ffects" and your page came up. After reading all of your comments it is amazing to see that he is actually a "child version" of you all- anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, ADD, and can add some dyslexic symptoms into the mix as well. He also has started taking Lexapro this summer, switching from Zoloft. Lexapro is a definate improvement.
He is taking melatonin at night for sleep, but will ask my doc about Flexeril for him...sounds like it does a better job. He has dreams and some aggitation upon wakening, too. We have just started giving him the Straterra at night and I do see improved focus and control in the mornings, which should help him greatly when school starts. However, he has been waking up much earlier since we started this regieme. I would like to see more "clarity" for him, but am hoping after reading your comments, that that will come as his dose is increased. In the past he has tried adderal, COncerta, wellbutrin....all the same things mentioned in your past histories as well. They all have quite intense sdie effects that he does not experience with the Straterra. We tried a small dose of adderal with the Straterra as well, but found it made him aggitted, so dropped that . If any of you have any words of support or suggestions for me or my son, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you! Don't think we are annoyed with Straterra....just want MORE benifit! Thanks! Jan and Jay
