hippocampal neuroprotection

This seems to be of major interest to many people today, in the prevention of relapse of many psychiatric disorders.
Does anyone know of any medications (other than Tianeptine which I cannot get my hands on now) that can purportedly protect the hippocampus.
I know ginkgo is supposed to help but unfornunately I find it interacts with Celexa.
I think it increases the metabolism or something.
