Parlodel has a benign side effect profile which makes it suitable for long-term management of diseases like parkinsonism. It is a neuroprotective agent which prevents dopamine depletion. I didn't experience any unwanted effects from it except that nausea and drowsiness at the initial stage. My starting dose was 1.25 mg at night, which still made me drowsy and nauseated the next day. The good news is nausea is not going to have any dominance beyond one week, but whenever you try to increase the dosage, this sickness will dominate as an inevitable evil and sex will be the last thing you wish during this period as the nauseant effect of this substance is so profound. Once you reach the therapeutic dosage of this medication (this varies from person to person)and overcome the sea-sickness like adverse effect, you will start to feel the effect. Effect will evident in all departments of sexuality, including desire, erection and ejaculation. (Again I remind you, individual responses may vary). I am taking 2.5 mg at night which still maintains the positive effects, although the initial high in libido is not so profound now. This may be due to the fact that I am accustomed to the heightened libido for a long time.
There is another novel dopaminergic called dostinex which is being tried for the same purpose with promising early results. Dostinex is a very long acting drug without the adverse effects of parlodel. Unfortunately it is very expensive right now, because the manufacturer has patent protection. If parlodel doesn't work for you dostinex will be the next option.
Good luck to you, keep me updated.
