The manufacturers of zolpidem (Ambien), zopliclone and zaleplon (Sonata) suggest only a single recommeded dose for these sleeping medications (10mg, 7.5mg and 10mg respectively).
However a friend of mine has difficulty sleeping even after taking the regular dose of one of these meds.
What sort of dose can these meds be safely increased to in order to have a stronger sleeping effect?
The packet inserts say "do not exceed the stated dose" as if there is likely to be a problem but from what I can tell there is no real danger in taking a double dose - except of course that you will sleep for longer and will be drowsier on waking and for longer.
Can anyone advise on this please. Thank you.
