> Hi. I'm new to this board. I have been on Effexor for the last six and a half years. I started a t 37.5mg and have gradually increased to 225mg as needed to combat my depression. Lately it seems my depression has returned with a vengence. My dr has increased my dose to 300mg in the past when i have needed. I've increased to 300mg lately only to suffer from migraines. Has anyone else out there had experience with your meds "pooping out" on you? Is this common? I have ben lucky enough to have had the first med I tried work for me, but now I'm really scared that I will have to go through all the trial and error and maybe STILL not find something to take care of the depression. Effexor gave me sexual dysfunction, which would be great to get rid of. In my current state of mind, everything is scary.... you understand.
I most definitely understand. I was on effexor xr 7 years up to 300 mg. I experienced the poop out you talk about and my doctor started me on a small dose of zoloft 25mg now 50mg you need to be careful combining both SSRIs - your doc would lower the effexor first. I am on just a small dose of zoloft now 50mg and have tapered off the effexor and it has not been easy. 8 days off and still sick. I think a lot of docs are not aware of the nasty side effects. I have learned from doing my own research. Glad I stumbled onto this board it has a lot of good information.
cheers,
mary
