When I took Depakote, I was really out of it and did poorly in school - big weight gain. Zyprexa and Risperdal made me feel like a zombie and couldn't stop eating and sleeping.
Lamictal was ok for me cognitively, but it messed with my distance vision and didn't help with being manic. Geodon was fine for me cognitively, but it caused muscle spasms. Now I am on Serequel, doing fine. But the first week I was taking it, it would cause my arms and legs to go numb (kind of like they were falling asleep) but that went away soon after.
My biggest problem with sticking with a drug has always been if it caused weight gain I would stop taking it. Lamictal, Serequel, and Geodon appeared to be more weight neutral.
A lot of what I experienced could be due to how high of a dose I was taking, and my own reaction to the drugs. But everyone is different and has to find what works for them.
