risperdal for children

My new doc, recommended .25 risperdal for my child (age 7)who has severe ADHD, anxiety issues (mostly separation anxiety) low weight due to adderall, very light sleeper, extrememly defiant, . Are there any suggestions or comments. all the stuff i have read about children is not good. help!
