> Can meds like ads work for things that are basically part of your personality? For me its pessimism, low self confidence (despite liking myself, if that makes sense) and poor motivation and conentration. Its been like this as long as I can remember and no meds other than quick acting ones like benzos and stims have ever helped. Im beginning to wonder if theres any point to searching for that magic pill. But Ive tried psychological treatments and they dont work either. Im really bumbed. Anyway thanks for the input.
Do you exercise? If we want our bodies to be stronger,
then we exercise regularly. I imagine that if we want
to change our personality,we must work at it similarly.
I believe AD's can help us toward that goal by
allowing insight into ourselves and relieving emotional pain
on a temporary basis. There is no such thing as a magic pill and even if there were, the price might be too high to pay (there is always a price for magic).
Choose to change your personality incrementally. It may take years or even a lifetime but eventually you will sculpt yourself into the person you truly are.
End of rant. :-)
