> Thanks for your reply Q. A faster kick in time was what I was looking for. I was on Adderallxr for my slow release before and it was too drying I was getting so dry I couldn't get my pills down.
> Adderallxr would also stop working about 5 hours after I took it. The dexedrine spansules seem to last about 8 hours. I take 12.5 mg of adderall with my 2, 15 mg sr. Mid afternoon I take 25 mg of adderall which get me through most of the early evening stuff if I don't eat too much. I wish my insurance would pay for the name brand, I have heard it is much better than generic.

Oh, Cool... Ya know, if you're looking for faster onset, you can chew the innards of the caps... if you crush the little beads, no more SR (sustained release). However, they don't last 8 hours anymore that way... so why not take tabs?? The little 5 mg dexedrine tabs (the lovely little orange triangles) are so convenient... they only last ~3.5 hours or so, but they kick in fast, and you can control duration by subsequent doses. A little inconvenient, and easy to forget.. so you can end up sluggish before you want, and find it's late in the day for more... where the "Spansules" take care of all that.I've never tried adderall, but I've taken Dexedrine in it's various forms for years 'n years. If that's what you're referring to about brand name vs. generic, all I know is the generic TABLETS are really hard to break, where the SKF (brand) ones are easy-to-break scored triangles. I don't know if there's a generic sustained release form, I've only ever gotten brand. I take just one 5mg spansule in the morning, as needed (I guzzle coffee sometimes too), or just eat a piece of a tablet a few times a day. When I was younger, I was up to much higher doses, but I find now if I keep from taking much over 5 mg per day, and skip weekends and such, my tolerance stays way down, so I get plenty of effect. A little caffeine helps "re-activate" if needed.
Anyway.. stimulants make me type too much :-)
Like I said, just did a google search on Dexedrine for fun, and found your post... registered just to reply! I didn't know there was really a lot of people taking dexedrine. It's always hard to find a Doc that'll write it ('specially here in CA), it seems everyone takes the newer stuff now... Not me, gimme dexedrine!
I'd love to hear more about your experinece w/ it!
