In reply to Amisulpride success for dysthymia/social anxiety, posted by btnd on September 15, 2003, at 9:40:40
Amisulpride is working for me, but its only been 5 days @ 50mg. By "working", I mean my anhedonia is dramatically lessened, and my enjoyment of other's company, or sociability, has been enhanced. Having read studies indicating a dopaminergic receptor deficit in social anxiety, a goal of mine has been to rapidly and safely trial dopaminergics. I would chime in that the studies are right. Amisulpride, a selective presynaptic dopamine (D2 and D3) receptor antagonist at low doses, adds to my confidence by simply making me euthymic, and hence less socially anxious.
