In reply to Prozac vs.Celexa-Horrific withdrawal? Like Prozac?, posted by Cindy on December 15, 1999, at 0:44:26
Yikes Cindy...I just went off Celexa to try Prozac, and you scared me. Celexa worked well for me for about 2 years. I went from 20mg up to 40mg. I was recently fired from my job among alot of other things, and it just wasn't working for me anymore. I went to my Dr. about a week ago, and told her I want to try Prozac. She said it has been known to help with weight loss, and was used for that years ago, and gave me a prescription for it. So far, so good. It will take time though. My girlfriend takes it, and she is thin and does really well on it. I know several other people that take it, and they do well also. I also know a couple of people that take Zoloft (people from work etc) and they have experienced terrible weight gain. I know when I tried to get off Celexa before, I quit taking it, and the 3rd or 4th day, if I turned my head too quick or something, I got really dizzy. I called my doc and she said you have to wean yourself off, so every time I tried, I was losing my concentration, sometimes felt like I was losing my mind. Anyway, sorry I am babbling, but all in all I think any time you Seratonin level is down, if you try and get off a drug it is going to affect your head. I had no side effects with Celexa either. Good luck!
