I have been taking Amitriptyline for 2 weeks and stopped one week ago because it (along with Effexor) have both seemed to have extreme opposite effects on my brain throwing me into deep depression, causing serious anxiety, racing thoughts and both have caused hypersensitive hearing/tinnitus/jaws cracking and ears feel infected.
When I stopped Effexor, these symptoms lasted about a week. They still have not gone away after one week on Amitriptyline. I think I read a post that mentioned Amitriptyline can stay in your system 2-3 weeks. Is this correct?
I am feeling that any kind of anti-depressant will now have this effect because they are alike and I am very scared to try another.
Could they cause more permanent damage or a permanent chemical change for the worst? I can deal with feeling the way I do on no medication, but can't deal with how I have felt on them?
Why am I having an opposite effect on these medications where it almost feels like seretonin or another chemical is being extremely depleted by them?
Anyone else have this experience with these symptoms on either of these drugs? Thanks
