topamax-how does it work

I am still trying to find a new depression drug
I am on 450 wellbutrin which is pooping out. I am also on cytomel which is giving me some energy but not helping my mood so much.
I tried effexor, ssris and recently adderall, which gave me terrible skin problems
Anyway, I am wondering about topamax now bc I have heard it can be good for atypical depression. How does it work? Is it dopaminergic?
