Amphetamines in general, displace dopamine and norepinehprine (depending on derivitive) at the synapse. I don't believe they are responsible for the production and or replenishment of dopamine. I think the generall assumption must be that, for those with ADHD, there is sufficiant dopamine at the cleft, but not enough dopamine release, kind of like with depression - some AD's reuse what's avalable (reputake - SSRI's) and others promote it's release - (Remeron and autoreceptor blockers) Anyhow there is more concern with the amine releasers that there could be a depletion.

Some general steps to remember.
Polyunsaturated fat deficiancy is extrememly detremental to those with low dopamine stores. So eat lots of good oils like, fish, advocado, olive etc. Secondly some people suplement with tyrosine, the amino acid precursor to dopamine and norepinephrine. This may help prevent crash or may only enhance the effect of the drug in action. Worth experiementing.

Also note, there is strong efficacy of omega 3,s in ADD like symptoms. Some people who suplement with them are able to reduce their stimulant dosages.

Good Luck
