Hi Jon, thanks for message :)
My interest in WB is basically because I've tried everything else!!
Potted history: was very well on Paxil for 18 months, then seemed to stop working and then I had horrid withdrawals. Since then have been on loads of different things - Efexor (horrid withdrawals again!), imipramine, citalopram, Remeron, moclobemide ...
I feel like I could write a consumers' guide! I'm even half considering going back on the Paxil but v. hesitant because I went through 6 awful months and a rebound depression coming off it.
The ones that have worked at all (Remeron and Lexapro) have left me completely emotionally numb and I read an article which recommended Wellbutrin for patients who were very flat on meds that affect serotonin.
I'm doing some therapy and could really use having my feelings back!!
So I thought I would give it a shot! Difficult tho' to get it prescribed here (UK) as it tends only to be given out for smoking cessation.
Sorry for rambling ... I just get very very frustrated that this brain of mine doesn't respond to most things and when it DOES I seem to cease to have feelings. Sigh. At least the depression is managed on the Lexapro and I've had 6 months without suicidal depression, which is something to be very grateful for!
Really glad this board is here - you are all lovely xxxxx

> We've had very different responses to moclobemide, but I can definitely relate to your senstivity to stimulating meds. I experience the depression, agitation, and irritability from most drugs that are stimulating in any way. I'm even sensitive to smart drugs like piracetam, aniracetam, etc. Classic stimulants are the worst for me. I would definitely rank Wellbutrin as worse than moclobemide in this regard, but not as bad as adderall, dexedrine, etc. I've never tried the new Wellbutrin XL, and maybe it's better in this regard. Only one way to find out, but if you're sensitive like I am, I wouldn't be surprised if Wellbutrin makes you irritable and agitated. What is the reason for your interest in Wellbutrin? There may be a more tolerable alternative, but then again, it could be a miracle for you.
