Genetics of Recurrent Early-Onset Depression Study

Posted by jrbecker on November 18, 2003, at 23:22:01

The National Insitutute of Mental Health (NIMH) is sponsoring a national, multi-site study -- the largest ever of its kind -- to uncover the genes involved in major depression. They need over 750 families with at least two siblings who have experienced major depression. This is a difficult task, of course, so if you know of anyone that would qualify and be interested, please pass on the word. The resulting knowledge from this study could be the most informative yet in helping to understand major depression and the appropriate treatments for it.

I myself would like to participate, but do not have siblings that suffer from depression. So, I thought I'd at least pass on the word to you guys in hopes of being more proactive about our cause.
