Hi,
I haven't been here for a while. I'm
going through a review of what i've learned
on the net in the past few years. It's
funny how I am returning to my initial
beliefs about mental health treatment -
i used to say (many moons ago) "drugs are
the answer" (primariyly) and i am now just
confirming that fundamental belief i have
always held but put aside to consider
alternative views on the net.I do have a question for anyone studying
pharmacology here: is it possible to get
withdrawal through chronic diarrhea? I think
i got a positive response on that at a pharmacy
usenet group but i'm not sure.I stopped drinking coffee because of that
(by my dr.'s advice) and sure enough the
diarrhea stopped. Before that, i had
all sorts of familiar symptoms of withdrawal
but did not know what they were -- i assumed
they must have been lithium related because
of the dehydration that diarrhea may have
caused.I take lithium, clonazepam, and Synthroid.
The symptoms were like the clonazepam withdrawals
i once experienced (sweats, hyperpyrexia
anxiety, strange head sensations etc.), but
the lithium is supposed to go up in coffee
reduction, so it could not have been too much
lithium, maybe too little? -I feel better now with the coffee reduction so
even if the lithium went up it is not bothering
me.So, i wonder if the diarrhea i had for 3 yrs.
on a daily basis, eliminated the clonazepam
and that was the cause of the withdrawal like
symptoms.It's a bit of a puzzle.
Thanks for reading - anyone who knows some
pharmacology kinetics here?Squiggles
