I can relate to several of the things you mentioned in your post.
I ultimately chose to go off of topamax because of side effects. It was hard for me to decide this because I kept wanting the drug to work!!!
I just guess I'd like to say that it is OK for you to NOT stay on the med. I got the sense that you are kind of looking for someone to say that, based on the tone of your post.
If you are in mega depression mode, you probably don't need something making you feel worse right now....
It is a tough drug....well, at least it was for me. Good luck
