My shrink warned me about the possibility of having psychotic symptoms when I first started Effexor XR. (The reason for the warning being the history of schizophrenia in my family which could predispose me for psychotic episodes if "pushed" by an external stimulus such as a mind-altering drug !). What he told me was that if I encounter any psychotic symptoms (voices, hallucinations..whatever) that I should immediately stop taking hte medication and call him. He seemed to think that it was a matter of much concern and should not be overlooked or ignored.
I think you should be waving a big red flag to your pdoc about the psychotic symptoms accompanying your meds and if he isnt listening or concerned then you should be trying another pdoc that does listen and is concerned.

you dont want to mess with psychosis especially if you've never had any until you started these meds !!
I hope the nasty voices will go away. Hang in there and make yourself heard.
