It sounds very possible that you may have ADHD. Maybe your pdoc could give you some tests or discuss this with you. If you are an adolescent, I would NOT mention using a friend's Adderall, esp. if you are currently under this doctor's care. He may see this as recreational, illicit drug use/self-medicating and may not prescribe it as a result. Dr.'s tend to be extremely cautious in prescribing this drug, particularly to high school/college students, because of the high risk of abuse potential & due to the fact that so many in that age bracket abuse/illegally buy the drug to help with their studies etc...
One way to approach it is to ask if he knows of anything that is widely known to work well for ADHD, as you suspect this may be the cause of your problems. He may just mention a stimulant (such as Adderall or Ritalin)...if he does not, I would ask him if he has heard of one or either for ADHD. If he rejects the idea of treating you with a stimulant altogether (and you feel in your heart that that is what you truly need, or at least need to try), then I would find a different pdoc! Good luck!

> I found this place after a 'break-through' I had when trying Adderal. There were a few posts on this subject, but nothing recent, and now I'm extremely curious.
> I currently take 45mg of Remeron and had bad previous experiences with SSRI's. The Remeron helps me sleep, but does nothing for my racing thougts, nor did the SSRI's. All the anti-depressants make me more nervous and also more scatter-brained(which is exactly what we don't want, right?).
> Anyway, I convinced my doc to let me try 18mg Concerta (the time release one), and it had no effect. A friend of mine let my try her Adderall a couple of different times, and it is amazing. I re-gained the ability to talk and listen, calmed my thoughts considerably, reduced anxiety, and I just felt more like myslef again. Of course, that is what amphetamines do. It was 20mg in one days time, I believe. I want to ask my doctor about giving it a test run, but I dunno what he will think of me taking Rx's without his consent? Although, it is proof of it's potential with my current condition.
> I've also heard that Wellbutrin makes you more alert, but can you take it with Remeron? OK-last thing...Some of you shared the same idea I have about OCD and ADD being very similar...I was half-ass diagnosed with OCD, but the ADD rings truer to me....just looking for more thoughts on the subject..thanx!
