You should be very cautious with the Welbutrin, because it can have a stimulant effect and is contraindicated for use with MAOIs. I'd definitely check with a psychopharmacologist with MAOI experience before trying it.

That said, I consider it an energizing AD, like Parnate-lite. It helped me get out of bed and kept me moderately functional. When I quit taking it before I went on Parnate the effect was dramatic: I could barely get out of bed before one or two in the afternoon, and then only with enormous effort.

Unlike Parnate, it can make anxiety worse. I don't think it would be good for ADD--I think it increased my anxiety and made it harder to concentrate, although it didn't make me feel stupid or numb like an SSRI.

I did not get much result from it before I went to 300mg/day, using sustained-release tablets (which my doctor said seem to work better than the regular kind. I've also heard you can break them without destroying the SR quality).

For the symptoms you are describing, I don't thing Welbutrin would be a good choice, even if there weren't any risk of it causing a hp crisis.

Best of luck
