It is true that you may have bipolar, however sometimes, because of the rollercoaster of medications that a person has been on, (in addition to the activating effects of some medications) they may believe they have bipolar disorder.
For instance, I don't really have bipolar disorder but, I find that lithium is one of the only antidepressants (mood stabalizer) that I can tolerate.
For instance, both remeron and effexor made me very angry and irritable. Celexa works well however I can't get to therapudic doses because of the effect on my sleep.
Anyhow, if you do want to try lithium, it is a bit of a downer, but it also has some significant antidepressant properties. Antianxiety, antiagitation, antiagression. It does have the ability to raise serotonin.
I presume you have tried the SSRI's (for some people the norepinephrine medications can be very activating.
But, you know yourself better than anyone else. Lithium is worth a shot. By preventing the highs, one doesn't crash very easily.
