Maryhelen...

I was on a high dose of Zyprexa for over 2 years and gained over 50 pounds. Depending on your weight before initiating therapy, this could be a serious health problem. Zyprexa doesn't have this effect on everyone, but trying to change my lifestyle, eat less, and exercise more did nothing to take off the weight.

I have never heard of Zyprexa being used for pain management. My brother has chronic back pain and his medication regime does include an antidepressant, though he does not exhibit classic signs of depression.

Has her doctor ever tried her on an AD before? I would try to go that route before I'd take something as heavy-duty as Zyprexa. I imagine it's a lot to take if you're not manic or psychotic.

Best of luck to your friend...

Girl
