I also have had a mainly positive experience with Effexor, after some intital bumps getting my doseage worked out.
I'm now taking it in combination with Remeron, taking each med 12 hours apart: Effexor in the AM and Remeron in the PM when I hit the sack.
I would suggest for anyone that is havin adverse SE's to speak with their PDoc. The worst of mine, including the "Brain Zaps" went away when we lowered the doseage for 225mg, back down to 75mg. But then my system seems to respond well to smaller doses than larger.
