In reply to too many meds?, posted by terrics on January 18, 2004, at 16:34:48
> I was recently clinically [whatever that means] depressed. I am now on effexor xr, wellbutrin xr,lithium xr and klonopin. The only one that I am sure works is the klonopin, because I cannot go to work if I do not take it. [I was diagnosed as bpd by someone else and this Dr. just found out this week.] Does this seem like too many meds? My hands shake and I have to print because it is so hard to write. terrics
They're used for different things. Effexor and Wellbutrin are both antidepressants (ADs). Lithium is a mood stabiliizer (used for bipolar disorder aka "manic depression"). Sometimes it's used to augment or boost ADs. Klonopin treats anxiety.
Usually you'll get started on one med and then your pdoc will change it or add others if it isn't working well.
