In reply to Re: Does Alcohol give you PANIC/ANXIETY ATTACKS?¿?!?!?, posted by panic_attack on January 21, 2004, at 18:52:09

Hi again PA,

I have taken a break (almost a month now)from daily drinking, and I can tell you that even though the first week or so my body felt very panicky, I have been more calm over all w/o drinking. My Dr. gave me some Serax to help with that first week - glad he did.

Someone said something about being an alcoholic - I don't agree with those labels. There are a lot of harm reduction groups like Moderation Management that a lot of people have success with. As you mention, you have a lot going for you, and you just happen to be aware that things might be better if indeed you could reduce the anxiety if it is related to drinking. Doesn't mean you are an alcohilic or will wind up in detox. Jeesh.

I was reading on about.com about drinking on Atkins, and they say that alcohol actually lowers blood sugar. Sometimes I think that the day after anxiety feelings just come from putting your body under so much stress and maybe being dehydrated. Anyhow, I miss drinking a lot less than I like not feeling like that anymore.

Good luck, once again -

PV
