depression-nortriptyline

So what do you think of nortriptyline? Seemed to work for depression @ 50 miligram for about a month, then depression back, upped to 75 miligram, worked for a month, last couple days depression back, will go to 100 miligram starting tonight. Figure if in a month it stops working again time for something else, don't know what. Is this a normal thing?
