It has recently been suggested to me that I am Cyclothymic. I battled on my own with depression, anxiety and cyling since high school. I was always trying to get to the state that I perceived must be normal, which apparently is a bit manic. Well, that is what my Psychiatric Nurse Practicioner is telling me.
My problem is that I know that SOMETHING is wrong, but all of the tests seem so very subjective. They all say yes, you get depressed. Yes, you struggle with anxiety. And now, Yes, you cycle a bit abnormally. I have been trying to get off of SSRI's for a while now. (Down to Prozac 10, from Paxil 20's) Lowering does, however, greatly increase my anxiety, irritableness, and cycling behaviour. But, I worry that perhaps I simply am not giving psychotherapy a good enough chance. I do not want to treat with meds what can be treated by behaviour and attitude management.
I simply do not know how to view this problem, and, surprise, it is making me anxious.
