lamotrigine

Hi,
I have Bipolar Disorder and am currently taking depakote and prozac, but my doc wants to put me on Lamotrigine. I haven't heard much about it except that one of the side affects may be a rash. Does anyone have any info about how effective it is, and how bad the side effects are? I used to be on carbamazepine but I had a bad reaction to it and I don't do too well with tricyclic antidepressants either. Any insights would be much appreciated. Thanks,
