Depakote was my first mood stabilizer. I managed the hair loss with zinc (I also took selenium), but I gained 30 pounds and this added to my depression. (I also believed it lead to female problems.) So I'm avoiding Depakote.

Lamictal was great, but my current pdoc won't let me try another trial because I had a small rash on my arms and upper chest. (I REALLY believe the rash was related to a new sunscreen I had just used. My rash was only where I'd used the sunscreen!)
