The wonderful world of SSRI side effects (YUK)

Posted by erik98225 on February 28, 2004, at 13:47:53

The doc gave me some Paxil on thursday for social anxiety. I am supposed to take 10mg every morning for 4 days and then increase to 20mg.

If I didn't know what an SSRI was, I'd swear they were hangover pills.

That's right, the side effect profile bears a striking resemblance to an alcohol hangover. The droopy eyes, the pounding headache. The insatiable thirst for gallons and gallons of water.

I feel like I drank a 6 pack last night.

Is this a normal side effect when starting to take SSRI's? If so, does it gradually dissipate as you get used to the SSRI in your system? The Paxil seems to be effective, as I am more at ease in social situations, but I don't want to keep taking it if its going to give me headaches!
