sore palms

I have very sore palms. They feel really hot and the pain is like a needle from the middle of the palm to the base. It is a continuous pain and is very sore on waking in the morning. I was diagnosed with osteoarthitis late last years in the base of my thumbs but this is something quite different or is it???
Would love to hear from anyone who has ideas of what it might be.
