Time for stump the pdocs and pharms: Sonata

Posted by florence on March 18, 2004, at 17:09:25

This is so unreal. I have tried EVERYTHING for depression. My major symptoms were fatigue and insomnia. I started prozac (again) along with provigil (stimulant). My insomnia was SO bad that pdoc prescribed Sonata. Unlike Ambien, it has a very short half-life. Well, I did not realize it at the time but when the provigil was wearing off I was getting weepy, anxious, feelings. I have never had anxiety problems. Well....to sum up, I noticed REMARKABLE UPLIFTING OF MY MOOD when I took a Sonata! I didn't want to go to sleep becuz I was finally feeling great---not "high" just normal, good mood feeling. Can anyone explain the mode of action of SONATA?? Just my luck, I accidentally find a med to improve my mood and it's not indicated for depression...By the way, I have to take Xanax now to counteract the anxiety given by the provigil..taken to help with energy (it doesn't do that any longer)..becuz I am fatigued becuz of Remeron.......that killed the rat that ate the malt that lived in the house that Jack built! Seriously, any hypotheses about why Sonata would LIFT MY MOOD? By the way, I am certain that I would fall right to sleep if I took it without the provigil.
