Codeine for OCD

I was recently prescribed Tylenol 3 for a toothache...I was suprised to notice that it kept my OCD under control. I'm currently taking Zyprexa which does help, but the codeine made it even easier to keep the intrusive thoughts at bay...more so than Xanax. I'm not going to ask for a refill, or even bother bringing it up to my psychiatrist...I just thought it was interesting and wondered why this was the case.
