Even some of the tricyclics that are powerful blockers of amine reuptake, such as desipramine, can apparently be used with MAOIs if this is done cautiously, so my opinion is that unless strange is going on with this particular drug, it looks like it is being lumped into the prohibited class somewhat unfairly.

NE Reuptake blockers can help prevent a hypertensive crisis as the reuptake sites is where the Tyramine enters. Clomipramine, Imipramine & Amitriptyline are the TCA's to be avoided with MAOI's because they can cause Serotonin syndrome.
