I went to my GP the other day to seek treatment for depression. Long story short, he prescribed me Effexor. I'd never heard of it before, so I went home and started doing some research and came across this board. I saw many negative posts re: Effexor withdrawl and that got me thinking, but I decided that night to go ahead and start my treatment anyway because I felt as if I really needed to do something.
Well I woke up the next morning feeling like kaka, but realized that side-effects were normal. But then I spent the whole next day reading through these boards and other online resources and decided not to continue on Effexor. I really just want something to help me "get over the hump" for a year. Something to help me regain confidence, physical and mental health, and back into some hobbies/activities.
I do not want to go through any horrible withdrawl symptoms for a month when there may be other better options out there. So I really owe everyone here a lot for establishing such a supportive community that I really was able to use to my advantage. I hope to either try Nardil or Zoloft, but have decided for now just to stop drinking alcohol and smoking pot and to get more physical excercise to try to naturally re-establish normal nutritional health and body chemistry.
If or when I do start an AD or if I don't need to I will be back and hopefully return the favor by providing some insight to my progress and experiences. Thanks everyone!!!!
