I think I'd do what the doctor suggested...otherwise, why go to one? Effexor is probably one of the most controversial ADs out there right now (read past posts) so I'd treat it with all the respect it deserves. And if you decide to quit taking it, decrease it by increments. Spoken by someone who has been there. Best.
