a. The beliefs of many religions teach that death is not necessarily the end. Killing one's self may cause a persons spirit to end up in a worse place or situation than they are now. Those who believe in reincarnation believe that such action will condemn one to a lower level of placement in the next life(not good).
b. Most every situation that causes depression is temporary whether it be grief, rejection or illness etc. It will pass or the effect of it will and life will get better when it does. It takes courage to weather a storm, but the pleasant clear and calm that follow are worth the struggle.
c. When we think about the freedom and privilege we enjoy in the free world, all of the opportunities we can take advantage of, well why would we throw all that away when those in other places would give anything to have what we take for granted.
d. It is better for a person to decide that they will take steps to resolve problems on their own instead of waiting for circumstances to change. Improving our lives is our responsibility. If we can do it then we should.
e. If you reach out to other (friends, relatives, agencies and even forums like this) you will find there are people who care and are willing to give you helpful support.
