It's not always the case that a higher dose reduces sedation. Are you taking the drug only for sleep? If so, I would start at 7.5mg & see if that is enough.
For me 15mg keeps me asleep for 8 hours, 30mg makes me sleep for 9 hours. The only reason I am taking 30mg is it lets me take more Effexor. Effexor gives me very bad nausea, but Remeron has anti-nausea properties. Remeron also is a mild anxiolytic & may allow you to taper off from taking Benzos.
