Hi Jeano, if you really are in need of an AD one of the worst things you can do is stop taking it before it has really had time to help you. I'm not sure of your diagnosis and what led you to your treatment but just stopping seems kind of scary to me. Do you think your depression was a false alarm? Do you think you no longer need treatment or is it taking specifically Effexor that is making you want to stop.

I do think it's great that you are feeling better. That is a good sign. I'm not sure how much of it might be to do with Effexor or not, however. The therapeutic dose range doesn't usually start until about 150mg. That is if you are taking this drug on its own. Are you augmenting it with anything else?

I guess you ultimately have to do what you think and feel is right, correct? If you don't want to be on this drug you don't have to take it. If it makes you feel scared or mistrustful, it's probably not a good idea to take it. Unfortunately, our minds are powerful things; we need to be proactive in our drug therapy. If we're not, I don't think very much will help.

I was sick for a total of 3 weeks coming off it. It was very unpleasant but again, that was before the little Prozac trick. By using that, it was maybe a week or so...

I'm not sure if this answers some of your questions or not...I think I ended up throwing some back at you!

Take care,
Karen
